Welcome to The Old Red House Thirsk, a traditional and welcoming pub run by Callum & Georgina Burnet and their dedicated team.
We pride ourselves on creating a warm, friendly atmosphere where everyone feels at home. Whether you're joining us for a family meal, a quiet drink with friends, watching live sport, or enjoying our famous Sunday Carvery prepared by our amazing chef Doug, there's something for everyone.
We are a family-friendly and dog-friendly venue with a spacious beer garden, a large car park with space for around 35 vehicles, and 6 comfortable ensuite letting rooms available for guests looking to stay overnight (coming soon).
We believe in serving quality food using fresh, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, alongside a fantastic selection of beers, ciders, wines and spirits.
There's always something happening at The Old Red House, with live sport shown across our four screens, weekly events including quiz nights and bingo, and regular special offers throughout the week.
Whether you're a local resident, visiting Thirsk, or staying in one of our rooms, we look forward to welcoming you.

Georgina
Hello, I'm Georgina, Co-Director here at The Old Red House!
I've spent many years working in hospitality and have been lucky enough to experience a variety of roles along the way. From Kitchen Porter and Waitress to Bar Manager and Chef de Partie at our previous pub. Today, I work alongside my big brother as Co-Director.
When I'm not at the pub, you'll usually find me reading poetry. One of my all-time favourite poems is Isabella, or the Pot of Basil by John Keats. I also love theatre and drama, especially musicals. In addition, I love nothing more than relaxing with a good film, curled up with my two beautiful dogs, Skye and Bean.
As if life wasn't busy enough, I also run my own beauty business and I'm currently studying Early Childhood Studies at university. I'm heading into my final year, which is both exciting and a little nerve-wracking! 😬
I love being part of The Old Red House and helping to create a warm, welcoming place where everyone feels at home. I can't wait to welcome you through our doors!

Hi I’m Callum, one of the Co-Director here at The Old Red House!
I've worked in hospitality for over 15 years and I'm also a trained chef. In fact, before we found our fantastic new Head Chef, I was juggling both roles as Head Chef and Landlord at our previous pub... safe to say I liked to keep myself busy!
One of my proudest moments was getting the chance to shake Gordon Ramsay's hand while I was at culinary school – definitely a memory I'll never forget!
When I'm not working, I tend to play video games, watch a good horror film, or I like spending time with my 19-year-old Staffy, who lives upstairs with me. She's an old girl now, but she's still an absolute sweetheart. 🐶❤️

Kathryn

Kate is one of the friendly faces you'll find behind the bar. She's also the very proud mum of us, Georgina and Callum, making the business a real family affair.
When she's not at work, she enjoys heading to the pub and trying her luck at bingo. She's also fascinated by the supernatural and has a keen interest in spirituality and is a Reiki Master teacher and a psychic medium.
Kate brings a warm, welcoming personality to the team and always enjoys having a chat with customers, helping to create a friendly atmosphere for everyone who visits.
Scarlet

Scarlet enjoys keeping active and making the most of her free time. She loves going to the gym, travelling, and taking long walks with her dog, Flossy. She also enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family and relaxing with a good book whenever she gets the chance.
Scarlet brings a friendly, positive attitude to everything she does and enjoys meeting new people. She is passionate about providing a welcoming experience and is proud to be part of the team.
Liv

Outside of work, Liv enjoys going on long walks, especially when she gets to watch the sunset. She loves spending time with her friends, shopping, and making the most of her free time.
Liv is friendly, caring, and always enjoys meeting new people. She loves being part of the team and takes pride in helping to create a positive and welcoming experience for everyone.

Outside of work, Milly enjoys keeping active through skiing and playing netball. Whenever she gets the chance, she loves taking her two dogs for walks along the canal and spending time outdoors.
Milly is friendly, enthusiastic, and enjoys meeting new people. She takes pride in being part of the team and is committed to creating a warm, welcoming experience for everyone.
Ellie

Ellie is one of the many faces you'll find out front, always greeting customers with a smile and making sure everyone has a great experience from the moment they walk through the door. Whether she's taking orders, serving food, or having a chat with guests, she loves helping people feel welcome.
Outside of work, Ellie enjoys spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking (her cheesecake is amazing), as well as horse riding whenever she gets the chance. She also likes keeping up her tan with the occasional visit to the sunbeds and enjoys making the most of her free time with family and friends.
She works hard to ensure every customer leaves with a smile and is always happy to go the extra mile to make every visit a memorable one.

Our Kitchen Team
Douglas
Doug is our dedicated Head Chef. When he's not creating great dishes in the kitchen, you'll usually find Doug enjoying one of his many hobbies. He's a keen Pokémon card collector, loves gaming on his PlayStation with friends, and has a real passion for motorbikes.
Doug is also a huge Liverpool supporter, so don't be surprised if you hear a few enthusiastic cries of "Come on the Reds!" around the kitchen. When it's time to relax, he's a big fan of TV quiz shows, especially Pointless, and he's incredibly good at Catchphrase.
Doug brings passion, personality, plenty of banter, and a great sense of humour to the kitchen every day.
Head Chef Jarek

Chef Kitchen Porter Jarvis
Jarvis is our Kitchen Porter. He is an important part of the kitchen team, helping to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Always ready to lend a hand, he works hard to keep the kitchen clean, organised, and ready for service.
When he's not at work, you'll usually find him in the gym, watching football, or enjoying a game of FIFA. As a dedicated Manchester United supporter, he's always happy to talk football and back his team.
Jarvis is also a keen pool and darts player, enjoying a bit of friendly competition whenever he gets the chance.
With his positive attitude, strong work ethic, and great sense of humour, Jarvis is a valued member of the team who helps keep the kitchen running like clockwork.
